From mid-2027, investors and other users seeking information on financial services, capital markets, and sustainability will have centralised access to all publicly available information in these areas across the EU. This will be made possible by the introduction of the European Single Access Point (ESAP), which aims to make it easier to make sound, informed, and environmentally and socially responsible investment decisions that serve the efficient functioning of the market.
With ESAP, users will no longer need to search for the information from individual authorities or on company websites, as all relevant information will be gathered in one place.
National and European authorities will continue to collect information from companies in each country. In Denmark, the Danish Business Authority and the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (Danish FSA) are responsible for collecting and forwarding information to ESAP. The information that companies and other reporting entities are required to submit will remain the same as is currently published by authorities and on company websites.
A smooth transition to new reporting requirements
Reporting entities must continue to submit information to the Danish FSA or the Danish Business Authority. However, ESAP will require the submission of new information, and there will be additional requirements regarding format and metadata to support ESAP’s search and other electronic functions. This means that information must be submitted in a format that allows data extraction; for example, PDF documents containing scanned data will no longer be accepted.
At the Danish FSA, we are committed to ensuring that the transition to ESAP affects reporting entities as little as possible. For example, we are working to ensure that, as far as possible, reporting flows remain the same, regardless of the specific legislation applicable to each submission.
ESAP in three phases
The implementation of ESAP is divided into three phases, each covering the transmission of information from a range of legal acts.
The first phase will begin in mid-2026 and will include information currently reported in OAM
OAM is the Danish FSA’s official database for company announcements, as required by the EU Transparency Directive. From mid-2027, the reported information will be published on the common European ESAP portal. Phase 2 is scheduled to start in January 2028, and phase 3 in January 2030.
ESAP is established by Regulation (EU) 2023/2859 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 December 2023, which provides centralised access to publicly available information relevant to financial services, capital markets, and sustainability.
