The 2019 EU-wide transparency exercise is initiated by the European Banking Authority (EBA) and aims to promote market transparency about the soundness of the European banking sector.
EBA has collected extensive information from the 131 largest European banks, including the composition of capital, credit exposures and sovereign exposures.
The publication contains quarterly data from 30 September 2018 to 30 June 2019.
The data is reported at the highest level of consolidation.
Along with the transparency exercise, EBA publishes an annual risk assessment report on risks in the EU banking sector (Risk assessment of the European banking system). The published information from the transparency exercise is part of the report. A comparison with other European banks show among other things that Danish banks on average have a lower net operation income as a percentage of total assets.
